District stakeholders met in the Spring of 2017 to review its mission, vision, goals, and philosophy. The Muskie Way was developed from this process and a "Plan on a Page" visually represents the work from this collaboration. District administrators then determined metrics to use to measure the district's progress on meeting the three targets listed:

• Students will graduate prepared for post-secondary success.
• Students will learn in a positive and supportive environment.
• Muscatine Schools will utilize resources effectively and equitably.
